The Gin Mill Restaurant & Tavern on San Mateo was the first Albuquerque food establishment to receive the prestigious "Gold Standard Dining" award for excellence in food safety.
"Gold Standard Dining" is a program which promotes higher levels of food safety, dining standards, and operation procedures.
In order for a restaurant to receive this award they must technically prove their commitment to food safety through training, education, and by implementing quality controls such as "Hazard Analysis Critical Control Point" (HACCP), a high quality food safety procedure.
The award program was instituted inconjunction with the New Mexico Restaurant Association, Rio Grande Valley Chefs' Federation, and the City of Albuquerque Environmental Health Department.
