Live Music At Vanessie
Doug Montgomery is a native Chicagoan and received his Master's from the Julliard where he was awarded the Joseph Lhevinne scholarship in piano. He then attracted national attention as the top prize winner of the Robert Casadeus Piano Competition. As an active solo performer, he has given hundreds of recitals and continues to perform with orchestras across the nation. Doug is in his nineteenth year of performing at Vanessie and remains a top draw in the piano lounge. He wows crowds with his amazing repertoire which ranges from 'Rhapsody In Blue' and 'Malagena' to Patsy Cline's 'Crazy' and 'Can You Feel The Love Tonight' from the Lion King. His regular nights are Sunday, Monday and Tuesday. "Doug is a gifted musician who is equally at home performing Chopin or singing show tunes... I have great respect for Doug and his music." ~ Michael Feinstein
Charles Tichenor, an actor whose medium is song, was born and raised in Owensboro, Kentucky and earned his Bachelor's degree in music from Murray State University before traveling to London to study with the Royal Academy. Back in the states he discovered that music tugged more insistently than acting. Charles is in his tenth year of performing at Vanessie where his playful mix of cabaret and pop standards entertains crowds on Wednesday, Thursday, Friday and Saturday nights. "Although my piano came first and has always been my musical base, I feel most fulfilled through my singing. Lyrics are the most important element of any song, one that hopefully expresses a truthful human experience." ~ Charles Tichenor
